Enhanced Data Analytics through New Data Warehouse Architecture
Enhanced Data Analytics through New Data Warehouse Architecture
OVERVIEW
The Washington State Investment Board (WSIB) was established in 1981 and comprises a staff of approximately 105 in 3 organizational teams – Investments, Operations, and Institutional Relations.
The agency manages investments for retirement plans including public employees, teachers, school employees, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and judges. They also oversee investments for various other important public funds that support Washington’s industrial insurance program, colleges and universities, and developmental disability programs.
The WSIB relied on a legacy data warehouse (ANOVA) that no longer met agency needs.
- It required a high degree of staff maintenance, was inflexible for reporting, and was expensive.
- It also relied on on-premises hardware which was reaching end-of-life and required replacement.
- It also had increased downtime and unsupported outages.
